The mark is a call,
leaving the line.

Geniviv's mark is the call-bloom from the homepage, halved and moved to the edge of its field. The source sits on the frame, so the sound crosses the square rather than floating in the middle of it. Ring weights are the hero animation's own, to scale.

Lockups

The square runs from the baseline to the top of the i dot. The g descender hangs below it — that overhang is what stops a solid field flattening the serif, so never align the square to the descender instead.

Clear space is the core.

Measure the solid half-disc at the centre of the mark. Its radius is the minimum space on every side of the lockup — a quarter of the field's height. Nothing crosses it: not a rule, not a caption, not the edge of the page.

The mark's own right-hand margin is part of the drawing, not clear space. Never crop it to close a gap.

Two drawings

Below 48px the two outermost hairlines fall under a pixel and the outer arcs flatten into bands that flood the tile. At that size the mark switches to a three-element cut on the paper ground — the same drawing, re-weighted, with the figure and the ground swapped so blue stays the subject.

Fields

Never

  1. Rebuild the wordmark in another face. Instrument Serif at 400, or the outlined file.
  2. Rotate, skew, or mirror the mark. The bloom leaves the left edge and only the left edge.
  3. Recolour the bloom outside paper, ink, blue, and lime.
  4. Put the mark on a photograph without the knockout file and a field behind it.
  5. Round the field. There is no radius anywhere in this system.
  6. Add a shadow, a glow, a gradient, or a bevel to any part of the lockup.
  7. Set the wordmark in all caps or letterspace it open.
  8. Scale the full mark below 48px — the small cut exists for that.

Files

Raster icons ship at /apple-touch-icon.png, /icon-192.png, /icon-512.png and /og.png. The wordmark is Instrument Serif at 400; the outlined files carry the same +0.014em at the roman-to-italic join that the live lockup does.
